Pathfinder | Connector | Coach | Teacher | Team Builder | Seeker
I am a Pathfinder. I shine light so people can see possibilities and take the next steps on their path. Sometimes the path is clear. Sometimes, shining the light in unexpected places makes all the difference.
I am a Connector. I connect my clients with their inner wisdom, and with ideas and insight about the obstacles they’re facing. I support my clients in forging stronger relationships with the people in their lives.
I am a Coach. We all have unique contributions to make to this world, and I help clients discover theirs. I love helping people discover their gifts and embrace their passions. I love helping them achieve their boldest visions and experience joy and meaning through their work.
I am a Teacher. I take great joy in helping others learn and grow. Bearing witness to a client breakthrough, and supporting them in taking action toward their goals is profoundly rewarding to me. As a teacher, I’m also committed to my own development, and love to share what I learn.
I am a Team Builder. I am passionate about enhancing collaboration and team effectiveness. I help teams understand, appreciate, and leverage their diversity - diversity of strengths, personality styles, life experiences, and more. I love creating environments where everyone feels included and valued, where teams tap into the uniqueness of each member so they can create something more powerful together.
I am a Seeker. My personal exploration of the world’s wisdom traditions has added immeasurably to the quality of my life. I connect my clients with practices and resources that bring more peace, discernment, and compassion to their lives. My essential personal practices include meditation, yoga, dance, and regular time in nature.
Prior to founding my coaching and consulting practice in 2008, I was a Director-level HR Business Partner at Yahoo. I like to say that I “grew up” at Yahoo in the 10 years I was there. It was a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization that grew from 250 employees to over 10,000 from 1997 to 2007.
During that time I had the opportunity to focus on leadership and employee development, organizational and cultural change, mergers and acquisitions, and talent acquisition. I supported a wide spectrum of the organization: Engineering, IT, Security, User Experience, Design, Editorial, Product Development, Sales and Sales Ops, Legal, Finance, and Community Operations. It was an extraordinary experience filled with talented and committed people, many of whom are dear friends today.
The Transition Begins
April 2006 kicked off a period of introspection and transition with the birth of our daughter. If that wasn’t life-changing enough, over the next nine months my husband and I both had brushes with cancer. Thankfully, we recovered quickly and have continued to be well. I learned a lot about myself by going through these experiences. So when my key internal client left Yahoo, I paused. My life’s energy was too precious to spend on things that weren’t important or meaningful to me. As I neared my 10-year anniversary with the company, I knew it was time for the next chapter of my career and life.
Leaving the security of a corporate career felt incredibly risky. Supported by close friends and family, I took the plunge to find my passions and talents in a new career – one that would allow more flexibility to enjoy my young daughter. This exploration led me to coaching.
I completed my initial training at the Academy for Coaching Excellence, and currently hold the Professional Certified Coach credential through the International Coach Federation. Further education has focused on helping teams and groups to be more effective, including coursework on Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching with CRR Global, Organizational Development with the Center for Human Systems, and the Enneagram.
I work with leaders and teams at companies across Silicon Valley and beyond, and entrepreneurs branching out to pursue a lifelong dream. I work extensively with strengths-based tools including StandOut by The Marcus Buckingham Company and StrengthsFinder by The Gallup Organization. I am a certified practitioner of Crucial Conversations, MBTI, The Energy Project, and Tilt 365, and I lead workshops on Managing Unconscious Bias. I am a dedicated practitioner of meditation, yoga, and dance, and I weave mindfulness and somatic-based approaches into my work with leaders and teams.
My parents grew up in the Midwest and made their way to Silicon Valley with my younger sister and me when I was three. I’ve spent most of my life in this part of the world, except for a two-year adventure in Manhattan, and four years at California State University, Chico (Business Administration). John and I have been married for 18 years, and our daughter is venturing into her teen years. Wish us luck!
